5 Simple Tips to Keep Your Business Up to Date with Cybersecurity

Written by Sydney Paalman | Mar 14, 2023 7:45:00 PM
No business is immune to cybersecurity attacks. One of the main issues today is that companies are not prepared, making them an easy target for a cybersecurity breach.

Here are 5 simple tips to help your business stay up with your cybersecurity.

1. Have a Plan in Place
A cybersecurity event could happen at any time. Having a plan in place and a team ready to go could be a lifesaver in this event. Create an Incidence Response Plan (IRP), and know who you are going to contact when you receive an indication that a cybersecurity breach has taken place.

2. Use a Password Manager
A password manager will help to securely store and manage all of your passwords and login information, along with creating complex passwords for you. This allows you to have a new unique password for every site and not have to recycle passwords.

3. Set up Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-factor authentication provides you with an extra layer of security with just a couple of easy steps. While it may take an extra minute to log in, it could be the factor that prevents the hacker from being able to access your data.

4. Keep your Cybersecurity up to Date
While keeping up to date with your cybersecurity may seem like a simple task, it is one that is often overlooked. New tools and updates are coming out daily and it is important to keep yourself, your electronics, and your business up to date to prevent a cybersecurity breach.

5. Simulate an Event
Lastly, one of the best things you can do is simulate an event. This will allow your team to know what to do in an event of a real cybersecurity breach. Often, breaches happen at inopportune times, such as the weekends and holidays. Consider doing your simulation on a weekend, therefore making it as real as possible.
